I am giving this company 1 star for their extremely poor customer service. I came in to the Courtenay location in need of a replacement thermostat for my greenhouse. I gave the gentleman at the desk the broken thermostat and asked if they had a similar replacement. I was told that they did not carry that brand but would have an equivalent replacement in anoth brand. He showed me a replacement thermostat which I purchased
I started to install the new thermostat but quickly realized that what he had recommended was not the same type. What I had was a two wire thermostat, meaning it require batteries. What he gave was a three wire thermostat, meaning it require an extra wire for power . I only had two wires.
When I went to return this I was told that since I had started the install they could not except it. I was told that this was because they could not guarantee that the item was not damage in some way. This was even though no power had been run through the item.
My problem is that I was given a replacement thermostat for the one I had by an miss informed employee. When I persented this to a manager I was told that it was not their responsibility to inform me as to what I needed. That they were not going to take any responsibility for their employees incompetence and were not going offer any refund at all.
This thermostat cost around $50 dollars, which means they probably paid $25 or $30 for it. Instead of owning it and using this situation to gain a customer who would tell everyone how great their customer service was and how they have their customers back, they opted to loose a customer. Now when asked if I know of a good electrical suppler I will tell this story of how they left me hanging for $30 dollars. Makes you wonder how they would treat a customer when there was some serouse money involved.
I run a small business my self and know costs are high but customer service is everything. A happy customer is gold, money in the bank. They have made a very poor decision over $30.

Yasin and crew are fantastic ! We receive great service and knowledgeable staff. Our work consists of everything from 138,000 volt Substation material to PLC equipment. Every time I ask for some obscure part or quick delivery of material Yasin and staff have never let me down even with our remote regional work from Panama to Yukon territories. I swear by CES. They have helped me when every other supplier failed.

Overpriced! They charged me $27 for a 4 1/4 inch retrofit box - that goes for $12 in Nanaimo.
Worth the drive to GESCAN.

5 stars to Tim for going above and beyond (and outside of regular business hours) to help us get a customer without power up and running last night! You saved the day!

I`m not happy with City Electric! I am not an electrical contractor so I only go to electrical wholesalers when I need something that is not available from retailers like Home Depot.
I needed a plug receptacle for my table saw. I took a photo of what I needed and showed it to the counterperson at City Electric. He looked at it and gave me an L14-20 receptacle. I connected it in my shop and checked fit before I connected power. IT WAS THE WRONG ONE! The photo on my phone was of a L14-30. When I tried to return it the guy refused to take it back because I had connected it to wires. He said an L14-30 receptacle was $20 more for a total of $60+tax! I looked on Amazon and ordered a L14-30 for $15+tax. I`LL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE NEXT TIME!!.
