Enjoyed the spot. They are doing some major renovations to the cabins. Ours is not done yet. So place is in need of work. My experience has been that when you have a King size bed Usually there are 4 pillows. Only had 2. Not enough linens in bathroom. Plumbing problems. Unit has a wood stove, but had to request for wood and paper for the fire. Had to purchase a lighter to light it. Was not aware that they have no TV service. OK for a getaway, somewhat off the grid,

Cabin #1 was pretty run-down & unclean. It had a million-dollar view, with a dingy $50 well used couch, that was too dirty to feel comfortable sitting on without putting a blanket (that we brought) over it. Paint chips, moldy kitchen tile, walls splatter with ick in the bedroom, & the bathroom was straight from the 70's. A tiny rusty shower, that stunk from high iron/sulphur in the water. There was very basic supplies, & I mean basic, no lighter or wood for the stove - had to buy both these, no cheese grater, very dull knives, etc. It was so bad that we left a day early - I'd rather be at home where it's nicer & cleaner. Asked for one nights refund, the day after arrival, but was denied. They even keep the extra dog fee we paid. Their excuse, we should have brought up the issues right away so they could have brought a cleaner in, except no cleaner would have been able to rectify the issues overnight. It needs a lot of TLC & repair. Needless to say, we'll never return & will advise other to do the same.

We unfortunately had a terrible experience. We had been the year before and had a wonderful time but this past summer was awful. We arrived tired and hungry from a long day of travelling and wanted to cook dinner. All the dishes were filthy, this made us uncomfortable because we wondered what else had not been cleaned. We took pictures of the dishes which are below. We soaked and scrubbed all the dishes and then cooked. That night my son woke up and a wolf spider was on him. The next day, three more huge wolf spiders came out from behind the bed. As soon as I killed one, another would come out. We complained to the property managers and they promptly vacuumed thoroughly. We didn’t see any more spiders after that but we were too uncomfortable to stay so we left. I wish they had cleaned before we arrived! We got a partial refund for the nights they could rent out the cabin again. Hornby is a gorgeous place but we won’t go back here.

Our stay at the Ford's Cove Cottage was amazing! We wanted a ocean view but didn't want to camp due to the unpredictable weather on the island in the fall. Fords cove was I'd say the best price on Hornby, it has everything you need. Full kitchen with pots/pans and utensils etc., bathroom with toilet and shower. The view from the gorgeous deck or even the view from inside was amazing! We spent alot of time inside due to the rain but could still enjoy the ocean view from in the cozy warm cabin. The convenience store has everything you need if you forgot something, and the restaurant above that has good food with a beauty view! I highly recommend Ford's Cove for their cottages if your thinking of going to the island!

Well stocked general store located in Ford's Cove of Hornby Island. It's connected to a restaurant that serves pizza and fish & chips. They are cabins, campsites and lots of hiking nearby.
