Thank you to Locals for hosting our wedding reception dinner! The service at dinner was truly incredible. Heidi made everything that night so special and all of our guests complimented how good the service was that night. The food was incredible! Delicious food and great atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in this!

Such a pretty place! The outside area is so cute. Service was lovely, food was delicious and the dessert was PHENOMENAL. I had the Dark Chocolate and Salted Caramel Delice….i don’t think I got the name quite right, but it is now in my top 3 of all time favourite desserts. I would like to eat it all day everyday. That’s how good it was. 100000/10 recommend

Our dinner here was nice, in a pretty Tudor-esque setting. But the overall experience was good but not great - nowhere near the 'fine dining' experience they put forth. Service was just okay, and the food presentation and flavours were more homemade than chef.

We found Locals to be a very disappointing experience. Our scallop and pork belly starter was tasty and based on that, we looked forward to our meal. Unfortunately we were very wrong. The bread and compound butter were nice, but our entrees were very disappointing. My wife ordered the Bouillabaisse, which came out bland with some fish overcooked, with the crab in particular more closely resembling rubber than fresh seafood. I ordered the venison, which was well seasoned but ultimately uninspired. The sauces and vegetables were competently if plainly executed, but the meal as a whole had a very plain meat and potatoes vibe, rather than fine dining. We also struggled to get attention from our server, who only stopped by twice in our entire meal. Disappointed with our mains, we ordered a few desserts to sample, finding them sweet and enjoyable but similarly pedestrian. Overall Locals was our most disappointing meal during a week on the island. I’d recommend anyone with a foodie bent steer clear of this place. Your money is far better spent elsewhere. At the price point Locals is charging, there is far better food to be had in the Courtenay area (see Atlas Cafe).

On what was a long anticipated dinner out, we were sadly disappointed. Waited at the door to be acknowledged for our reservation. Someone flung a comment over their shoulder as they rushed past that “she” would be right with us. Waited….finally led to a table. Waited at least 15 minutes before a drink order was taken and then at least 20 before the drinks showed up. Food ordered and then a looooong wait for that. Severe nut gluten allergies were made clear before food was ordered. Meal came. Caesar salad I have frankly had better elsewhere, lamb shank was good but the steak and prawns were overcooked. Oversalted, rubbery prawns, steak ordered medium rare was medium to medium well and had obviously sat under the heat lamp for too long. Dessert was brought promptly after listing everything that had gluten and nuts in it as options. When it came, it had both gluten and nuts in the biscuits. Sorry Locals. You really dropped the ball tonight. Extremely disappointing.
