There is an increasingly dangerous situation developing at Strathcona Plaza with respect to overcrowding and dangerous driving in the parking lot. There is no designated disabled parking space, nor is there a loading or drop off zone. There are three entrances to the lot, with the entrance off Comox Ave often used as a short cut by vehicles who speed through the lot. Clients of the physiotherapy clinic with mobility issues find themselves unloading and loading onto what is now a busy thoroughfare inside the parking lot. Something needs to happen to calm traffic inside this parking lot. Mobility impaired vehicle passengers need a safe loading and unloading space. My family is in this lot every week and we are witnessing increased accidents and near misses. Many elderly clients are dropped off for physio and other appointments by the Berwick House cars. This is an issue impacting a significant number of vulnerable seniors. Why are there no disabled parking spots, no stop signs, and no loading zone within this busy parking lot?
