We love the gelato at Benino's, exploring all the favorites and sometimes new flavours. We also enjoy the small but tasty selection of food on offer, particularly the crepes. The veggie crepe is packed with delicious grilled veggies and cheese making a savoury treat, and the dessert crepe is a sweet treat! Along with fresh custom flavour Italian sodas, it makes for a delicious lunch.

I enjoyed the crepes. The customer service and the mocha I ordered were baaad. Asked for no whip twice, got a mountain of whipped cream. The espresso was clearly either bad quality or not dialed in properly, extremely bitter. Was also insanely sweet, so sweet I took two sips and it made me nauseous. I left my full drink in the dirty dish bin. The blond girl who took my order the afternoon of Feb 24th seemed grumpy and inconvenienced, perhaps if she was a bit more friendly I would've felt comfortable requesting my drink be remade. Instead I left with no intention to return.

I had the Chai Masala Tea and Tiramisu Gelato 🍨 which were both amazing. Friendly and professional staff. A small is pretty large and you get to choose TWO FLAVOURS !

The staff is very helpful and friendly, explain all the gelato and sorbetto flavours, and let us try 4 flavours: maple walnut (maple is fragrant and not overly sweet), mixed berries sorbetto (perfection!), cookies and cream (cookies taste amazing!), Striacitella (almost the same as Italy!). Store is big, lots of seating area, generally quiet, with big tables. Definitely good for study, hangout, play games together and more! Gelato and sorbetto are one of the best we tried so far in Vancouver Island, not overly sweet, and flavours are on point. I ordered Striacitella - one of my fave flavour after my trip to Italy. I am so glad to have stumbled this shop while driving around in the island, and found the flavour I love from Italy! Definitely bring back memories!
