Went to Bmo in courtenay and had the worst service.
Wanted to deposit a cheque that was endorsed by someone else to me and told them that i understood they would need to hold the cheque to ensure the funds cleared which i had no problem with . I have banked with BMO for over 40 years . I have more than enough in my account to cover the cheque the assistant manager was very rude and said even if it was 2.00 she would not do it. She told me that 10 years ago policy changed and they could not do that.
I went to my car and called customer serve and they looked it up in policy as well as spoke to customer service manager and said there is no reason that they could not have done it for me , my account is coded excellent . So not only rude but was not honest with me.
They told me i could go back into the bank and talk to them but i was now running behind and the way the management team is in there i try to avoid going to the branch at all cost.
If it wasn’t that i worked for Bmo for 42 years and had a wonderful career i would move to another bank.

If I could give a zero rating I would, called the bank last week to talk to my financial advisor and got told she was on holidays, and she will be back on Monday November 4. When to the bank yesterday and got told she would be back Friday , and she would call me ,when to close all my accounts today including my EFT portfolio and Retirement portfolio only to be told I needed to talk to my advisor, been waiting all day and still no call. Don't understand why the managers can't close these accounts when all the advisors are busy. This is the worst customer service I received in the 30 years I have been with this bank

If I could give 0 stars, I would.
I avoid going into this Branch, as much as I can.
I was treated terribly there, by a Teller, whom was friends with my new Husband’s Sisters in Law, when I was first married. The Teller, instead of writing the amount in an account, spoke loudly, and said, “ Good thing you married a Rich Man, because this account only had 70. in it!”. I was very embarrassed, and hissed at her to “ Shut her mouth”, but she kept going on about my Husband’s wealth, and me being a Trophy Wife. The Bank Manager overheard her bullying, and came out of his office, marched to her, and told her to clock out, that he would serve me. He apologized, and felt very badly. He also knew just how much our businesses were worth, and had to soothe feathers.
I only go in to the Branch if I have to, preferring my phone over this Teller.
She has retired, but she was the worst, and often did this sort of thing. How she kept her job? I have no idea.
Someone with no ethics, privy to everyone’s financial details, in a small town, is a Hell of a Liability. She did speak to her friends about me, and my little bit of money, and talked about my ‘ Trophy Wife’ status. Also totally unacceptable.

I moved from Alberta to BC and I wanted to open an account with BMO moving my money from ATB that only operates in Alberta. I could not make an appointment on-line because most of the dates were not available. I made a trip to the bank early this morning at 9:30 am when the bank just opened at 9 am. There was only one customer before me. I waited a few minutes and I asked to open an account. The only front desk staff told me she could not open an account for me because I did not make an appointment; the earliest possible date would be next Wednesday. I said the new account promotion will expire on Tuesday. She did not seem to know what were advertised on the New Account Promotion. I could see there were people working in the back room. When there were only one person at the front desk and somebody asked to open a new account, would it be nice if the people at the back could have offered some assistance ?

Was just at BMO and a man was talking with a manager at the teller and she was talking loud enough that I could hear all of his personal banking details such as his amount owing on his mortgage and line of credit from across the room while I was waiting. Glad all my personal information wasn't being blurted out for the entire bank to hear.
In the end my banking was all done as expected buy I really didn't like hearing somebody else's information from across the room.
