Terrible service! Was at the bank at 9:15 am to set up an Estate account as Executor of my Dad's estate. I gave them the Probate docs and the person then told me that it would take a week for Head Office to set up the account and that she would have someone call me 'today' to set up a meeting for a week from now to handle all the arrangements. At 4:20 that afternoon I had still not received a call so I called the bank and spoke to a gentleman, nicely explaining what had occurred so far today. He took my name and number and said someone would call me shortly. WRONG! It's now 5:54, an hour and a half later and an hour after they close and no one has called me. This is DISGUSTING! What a horrible banking experience at CIBC!

Very poor customer service, as well as nowhere enough tellers to service the volume of foot traffic through this location.

Worst bank for customer service.
I was just in and they don't have any tellers working. Usually only one working with a huge line up. It sucks to have to use this bank

For the past SEVEN YEARS CIBC has refused to acknowledge my Power of Attorney in regards to my father’s account, unbelievably, placing itself above the BC Supreme Court, which officiated my POA.
Since 2017, when this court-ordered POA was generated, neither the CIBC branch manager, nor CIBC’s Executive Client Relations Office has made good on any of the promises made to rectify this intolerable situation & even thought the BC Public Guardian & Trustee’s office made the extraordinary gesture TWO YEARS AGO & communicated to CIBC’s legal department, the legitimacy of my POA - as of yesterday nothing has changed, the CIBC branch in question, once again is refusing to recognize my POA.
And yesterday I wasted over an hour & a half at the branch, got nowhere & today, once again, I am going to have to transfer my own money into my father’s main bank account (as in: not CIBC) to cover upcoming expenses.
To anyone else who is reading this: if you are in a situation that involves a POA I strongly recommend that you choose a bank, any bank, other than CIBC.

I've been a CIBC client since 1989 and recently moved to Courtenay and live nearby the Lerwick RD Branch. The tellers are in most instances kind and polite, this one particular (MS02983) teller that I unfortunately seem to get regularly is a surly unkind individual. I recall when she was a teller in training and during those days she acted with courtesy and respectful manner, no longer the case now that she's no longer in training, a complete 180 degree turnaround. I recall a instance whereby she promised to call me regarding a banking situation, no call. Sad to see that the quality of employees has gone south with the lack of manpower post pandemic
