What a pleasure it is to share my experience as a devoted client of Sandra's. As a former yoga teacher, I was looking for a Pilates instructor who shared a passion for biomechanics and movement science. I was fortunate to find it upon first meeting Sandra. As an Occupational Therapist and having taught group fitness classes for over 30 years, Sandra brings a wealth of knowledge to each of our sessions. For over a year now, I have studied with Sandra 3x/week privately in her beautiful studio in Courtenay. I have gained strength, flexibility and new and novel ways of moving that have been invaluable. I can honestly say...Sandra truly is that rare individual/teacher that really cares and wants you to feel better, move better and embrace fully the person you are. I am writing to share my appreciation for Sandra Stessun and her work through Fit2Function. Trained as an occupational therapist and pilates instructor, Sandra is particularly tapped into my needs as it relates to both physical activity and what I am required to do in my everyday life activity. I have trained with Sandra for many years and her ability to provide individualized exercise combined with detalied and thorough demonstration and description is exceptional. After having seen two physiotherapists for what I thoughts was a nagging hamstring and then hip injury, Sandra was able to properly assess my injury and provide the right blend of exercise to support my healing and prevent further issues. On top of her expertise, Sandra creates a warm and welcoming environment in her bright pilates studio. She takes a personal interest in her clients, absolutely loves her work, and is also hilarious. I more than highly recommend her!

I have been going to Sandra for pilates reformer work for over a year now. Sandra has been instrumental in helping me strengthen my knees. I had torn my ACL, PCL and MCL and fully extruded my meniscus. It was at physio that I saw her ad and decided to go. One of the best decisions of my life!! Being an occupational therapist, she designed exercises specifically for me and in conjunction with my physiotherapist. My knees are pain free now and they feel better and stronger than before my accident.
In addition to the knees, Sandra's sessions have helped me strengthen my core and have improved my overall body strength, posture and balance. The workouts are different each week and Sandra is always mindful to ask if you have any areas that are bothering you before your session. Some of the exercises seem like they are quite easy, but it is later that day or the next morning you know that you have worked that area(s).
I highly recommend trying the pilates reformer with Sandra. She is very professional and personable.

Sandra is a truly excellent trainer - with her Occupational Therapist background combined with her extensive training with Pilates equipment of all types, she has a detailed understanding of anatomy and exercise physiology and so is able to customize the workouts carefully to every client to maximize returns and minimize the likelihood of injury, and every session is different, with multiple approaches to training all muscle groups in a balanced way each time, so all sessions remain fresh and interesting. I can personally attest that Sandra's exercise programs are awesome for effective rehab after injury, as well as general ongoing fitness and strength training - and since she is able to work virtually over vidcon with her clients as well as in person it's been very easy to find times to schedule sessions the past few years with her for both myself and my wife in our multiple Pilates sessions per week. I can certainly highly recommend Fit2Function for fitness and Pilates training!

If you're looking for the best in Pilates instruction, look no further than Sandra. Extraordinary is the best word to describe her. As an instructor she’s dedicated to each of her clients as individuals. She encourages without hectoring, monitors and tracks your performance and progress closely, and gently and positively corrects you when necessary as you work out. She also brings to Pilates instruction her wealth of knowledge as a professional occupational therapist. This gives her an expert background in, and keen eye for, body mechanics. I’ve been with her for five years now, in person and by Zoom, and only wish I'd been in her classes years earlier.
