This is a mixed review. Please note this is my first time selling anything at a pawn shop, so I just didn’t know what to expect, but customer service is universal and this was poor.
I interacted with a guy named Rob, who must deal with some crooked people regularly, as he was curt and suspicious. I still don't fully understand his reasoning. On a positive note, I know they do their due diligence.
My side of the story:
I'm a contractor who bought a tool lot from a building influencer in Victoria because it was a great deal. I kept the ones I like and am reselling the ones I don't need. I brought them here hoping for an easy deal instead of dealing with people on Facebook Marketplace. However what I got was a person that was rude and adamant he didn't trust things. Even after I offered easy ways to vet my story. I didn't push further and admit I took the mistrust personally. I might still look to buy things here, but that was a wild and unkind encounter and will stick to the crazy folks on Facebook marketplace.
Three stares because I also had a great experience buying Xbox’s game here from a different sales person.

I respect this business, I’ve watched someone roll up on a clearly stolen e bike to attempt a sale (trust me, that person didn’t own it) and they turned em down without hesitation. The guy running the counter said he has no tolerance for that BS and I really like when I business stands on principles when others might have a mindset that’s more focused on making money no matter what, with a “not my problem” mentality. Definitely not this business, and any time I’ve made a sale they’re always very reasonable. A few times I’ve brought in items that I was being unrealistic about and the clerks are patient and show you how much it’s worth new and everything no big deal, they still made an offer that was reasonable based on the original sale price and that’s their principle you can count on. Like I said I appreciate that, as opposed to being given the run around.

I highly suggest this island traders location for buying and selling used goods. Jeff and the crew will set you right wether you are looking to sell or buy firearms, sports memorabilia, TVs, car audio, tools, video games and consoles, knives, watches, rings, crossbows, bikes and much more. I’ve bought and sold items to them over the years and just recently picked up a 2020 model Samsung smart tv as well as a premium LG home audio system and couldn’t be happier.

Awesome store with a wide selection. Everything from jewellery to electronics to guns!!🤙🏼
The staff were super cool and gave a a 15% discount when I bought multiple items. Great store to just swing in at when you're in the area as they got good prices!

The manager/owner (I think he's also the owner) is outstanding in his business practices and how he treats his customers. He shocked me with something he did that was totally unsolicited on my part. I didn't ask him for any favours — he just did one, and it was a big one.
If you're looking to patronize a business like Island Traders, it deserves you as a customer. Yes, I know this reads like a paid testimonial, but I assure you it is not. I've written this only because I believe one good deed deserves another. Thanks again to Island Traders, Courtenay.
