"There's nothing flat in Cumberland," said Jessie Levene , a long-time resident of this small mining town on Vancouver Island. She meant that the houses are old and the floors aren't even. Perhaps not being flat was necessary for creating a highly creative hipster community in the middle of nowhere. Musicians, crafts, bakeries, artists and strange artifacts, like a dead oven, placed randomly(or not!) like that piano in the bathroom. All of that makes Cumberland vibrant and charming.
