I love my Dr here, but I must say that the receptionist desk needs some work. Almost every time I speak with a receptionist here I am faced with unwarranted rudeness and impatience over a simple inquiry or booking etc. It is almost comical. After years of customer service I am used to dealing with unhappy people and “killing them with kindness”, which is what I wind up resorting to almost every time I must call here, but it’s too bad that I feel myself having to be in this situation. It also makes me feel reluctant to call and book an appointment and I find myself putting it off for too long. I understand the medical system is under a lot of strain right now, and that their jobs must be very hard, but I find such unprovoked rudeness and poor behaviour pretty disappointing.

I'm sad to see that this clinic has some low ratings, and I feel sad also for some of the experiences I read about in the reviews! It doesn’t look good, but there's usually more to the story from the clinic side and the patient side.
All I can say for myself is that I've been going to this clinic almost my whole life and I deeply appreciate the experiences with the doctors there. I see Doug Anderson, and he's the best doctor I could ever ask for. I've also seen Dr. Howard and he is just as wonderful. I've even seen a female doctor there years ago, and I had a good experience. Staff are very busy, but that is to be expected, and the front desk staff are polite and professional. It's what I'd expect from a medical clinic, as it's typically not as warm as say, a massage therapist's clinic, but they provide excellent services. I can only assume that if anyone's had a negative experience, it's uncommon.
I'm very thankful to have a doctor at this clinic.

I have lived in the Valley for many years and could never find a great doctor. When we moved to Comox, Dr. Maria Smit arrived. As our previous doctor moved, was able to get in. She is the best doctor have ever seen. Clear, communicative, patient and listens so well. She graciously saw my older out of town mother in a crisis and she felt same thing. Have not had to use another doctor there yet I find the staff at clinic efficient, warm and the environment welcoming.

My parents and I had a great family doctor at this clinic who tragically passed away but we recently received a letter informing us that they will not be distributing their patients to other doctors or getting a new or temporary doctor.
It's unsettling that a clinic would terminate patients as it feels unethical when my parents are on medications (and seniors) that require the oversight of a family doctor.
We're also been with this clinic for over 30 years.
